چکیده

To investigate the protective effects of galangin on liver toxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) in mice. Mouse hepatotoxicity model was established intraperitoneal injection (i.p.) 10 ml/kg body weight CCl that diluted with corn oil to a proportion 1:500 Kunming The mice were randomly divided into five groups named control group, and 1, 5, mg/kg group. levels alanine aminotransferase (ALT) aspartate (AST) analyzed ELISA. Liver histopathological examination observed via optical microscopy. superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH), glutathion (GSSG) assess oxidative stress. Finally, western blot assay carried out analyse expression total AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), phospho-AMPK (p-AMPK), B1 (LKB1), phospho-LKB1 (p-LKB1). Compared AST, ALT, MDA, GSSG increased significantly ( p < 0.01); activity SOD GSH decreased revealed necrosis. However, treatment (5 mg/kg) reversed these -induced damage indicators. Furthermore, (10 p-AMPK p-LKB1 0.01). This study supports hepatoprotective effect against hepatotoxicity, perhaps occurring mainly through LKB1/AMPK-mediated pathway.

Hepatoprotective effect of Rosa canina fruit extract against carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in rat

Objective: The present study was conducted to investigate the hepatoprotective activity of hydro-ethanolic fruit extract of Rosa canina (R. canina) against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Methods: Male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into six groups of 8 animals of each, including control, toxic (CCl4), R. canina 250, 500, and 750 mg/kg + CCl4 and R. canina ...

Hepatoprotective effect of food preservatives (butylated hydroxyanisole, butylated hydroxytoluene) on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in rat

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), a hepatotoxic agent is widely used to study the toxic mechanisms in experimental animals. This study was carried out to establish the hepatoprotective measures of food preservative antioxidants butylated hydroxyanisole and butylated hydroxytolune (BHA, BHT) when mixed with food towards carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) intoxication (230 mg/ kg b wt/rat/day) in rat. Bioche...

Hepatoprotective effect of Epaltes divaricata extract on carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in mice.

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Epaltes divaricata is widely used in Sri Lanka as an Ayurvedic medicine. In the present study the hepatoprotective and antioxidative effects of an aqueous extract of E. divaricata plant (Family-Compositae) were investigated against carbon tetrachloride induced hepatocellular injury in mice. METHODS Healthy male mice (30-35 g body weight, 6-8 wk old) were used. A single...

The protective effect of nicotinamide on carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity.

THE CHANGE in hepatic pyridine nucleotide levels which results as a consequence of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) administration has been implicated as a factor in its hepatotoxicity.1-3 Gallagher et a1.*-B found that the administration of either nicotinic acid or tryptophan protected rats and sheep to a considerable extent against the lethal effects of large doses of CCl4. The injection of nicoti...

Effect of propolis extract on acute carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity.

Ethanolic extract of propolis was administered to rats intoxicated by carbon tetrachloride. Administration of bolus dose of CCl4 (1.5 ml/kg, ip) resulted in elevation of serum transaminases and serum alkaline phosphatase activities. Levels of hepatic lipid peroxidation were significantly increased. On the contrary, there was significant decrease in hepatic reduced glutathione level. The propoli...
